Trois navires de missiles et sept bateaux de commandos ont été envoyés pour reprendre le baquet connu comme "le Dignité Al Karama" hier, à environ 50 miles nautiques de la côte.
Au moins 150 soldats ont été envoyés à la mer tôt le matin pour éviter aux 10 activistes civils, trois membres d'équipage et trois journalistes de la "flottille de la liberté" d'atteindre le port de Gaza.
Pendant une heure, hier, les militants ont pensé que la marine pourrait avoir renoncé à sa mission coûteuse pour les intercepter. Ils ont imaginé une autre fin, non-violente, à leur voyage, qui a débuté en Corse le 25 Juin, et a continué dans les eaux internationales, le samedi à partir de l'île grecque de Kastellorizo.
Le lundi, les militants et l'équipage ont décidé de jeter l'ancre à environ 80 miles nautiques de la côte de sorte que s'ils devaient être interceptés, ce serait durant la journée.
Mardi matin, le navire lève l'ancre et repart.
Vers 10 heures, un navire de la marine israélienne est apparu au nord. La radio du Karama a commencé à grésiller: «C'est la marine israélienne. Quelle est votre destination.?"

Permission refusée, dit la voix.
Au même moment, la communication a été coupée. A environ 13 heures, un commando de quelques bateaux accélérait vers le Karama depuis l'ouest. Depuis le sud et le nord, trois bateaux de missiles sont apparus.
Nous étions tous vêtus de nos plus gilets de sauvetage orange fluo. Les huit personnes en dessous du pont ressemblaient à des personnages de dessins animés.
Mais ce qui approchait n'était pas une plaisanterie. Deux longs bateaux de missiles verdâtres avec des commandos à bord, des masques noirs cachant leurs visages, pointant toutes sortes d'armes sur les personnages orange.
Les bateaux de commando s'approchèrent ; à leurs côtés, deux canots pneumatiques gris.
Plus tard, trois de plus apparurent.
L'expatrié israélien Feiler Dror, aujourd'hui citoyen suédois, a crié en hébreu: "Arrêtez de pointer votre arme sur nous, nous ne sommes pas armés !" Il a joué une mélodie qu'il avait composé, avec des motifs juifs cantoriaux, sur son saxophone.
Juste quand il s'est arrêté de jouer, les bateaux de commando ont commencé à ralentir et à se replier. Les militants ont plaisanté en disant que la chanson avait fait son travail.
Autour de 14 heures, sept bateaux de commando sont venus à quelques mètres du yacht des deux côtés.
Les canons à eau ont été pointés sur la droite du pont. Les bateaux en caoutchouc s'approchèrent également, et l'équipage du Karama a commencé à descendre de la plate-forme supérieure humide. Le moteur s'est arrêté et les soldats, avec leurs masques noirs et de leurs armes pointées, ont ordonné à tous de rentrer dans la cabine.
"Nous n'allons pas vous blesser si vous obéissez", dit quelqu'un. Les activistes ont été entassés dans la cabine, et le pont rempli avec des hommes masqués qui les ont amenés un par un dans les vaisseaux en caoutchouc.
Les hommes masqués tendaient leurs mains et disaient des choses calmantes comme "prenez ma main; ici, laissez-moi prendre votre sac" Nous étions à peine monté sur le bateau en caoutchouc, qui avait le marquages de la police des frontières, qu'on nous donnait de l'eau. Les soldats masqués sur les autres bateaux étaient occupés à prendre des photos de chaque acte humanitaire.
Des canots pneumatiques, nous avons été emmenés sur l'énorme bateau de missiles Kidon, parmi les missiles - manifestement destinés à Gaza - et des soldats dont les visages n'étaient pas masqués.
Plus tard nous avons été emmenés en bas dans des cabines sans air. Trois ou quatre jeunes hommes nous gardaient. Ils étaient gentils, ils nous ont apporté de l'eau et des fruits. Quelqu'un vérifié notre pouls. Quelqu'un a demandé si quelqu'un avait mal quelque part.
Quatre heures plus tard, quand nous sommes arrivés à Ashdod, nous avions mal à la tête à cause des cabines suffocantes.
A environ 19 heures, nous avons mis le pied sur le quai d'Ashdod. Des masses de soldats et quelques personnes en civil nous sont tombés dessus. Les gens ont été amenés à leurs bagages.
C'est là que nous nous sommes séparés: en tant qu'israélienne et journaliste, j'ai été mise de côté et libérée après que mon passeport a été tamponné. Les autres 15 passagers du Karama ont été arrêtés et n'ont pas été autorisés à voir leurs avocats.

Le bateau français Dignité Al Karama a été capturé dans les eaux internationales par l'armée israélienne et amené dans le port d'Ashdod, Ses passagers ont été transférés sur un bateau militaire. Cet abordage est un acte de violence et un acte illégal.
Les commandos armés de l'armée israélienne ont abordé le bateau français à 40 miles des côtes de Gaza dans les eaux internationales, comme en mai 2010 quand l'armée israélienne avait attaqué la première flottille de la liberté. C'est un nouvel acte de piraterie, contre un « Petit poucet citoyen ».
Nous ne sommes pas pour le moment certains qu'il n'y a pas eu de violence, comme le prétend l'armée israélienne, car aucun contact avec les passagers n'est possible. La censure militaire est toujours appliquée. Dans tous les cas amener de force un bateau et ses passagers dans le port d'Ashdod sous la menace d'armes, avec des bateaux militaires, est un acte de violence qui doit être condamné, comme doit l'être le blocus de Gaza.

Samedi 16 juillet, le bateau français Dignité Al-Karama avait fini par l’emporter sur les milles obstacles et tracasseries dont il a été l’objet de la part des autorités grecques. Il avait quitté le port de Kastellorizo, en Grèce, et avait enfin atteint les eaux internationales. À son bord, des militants français et une délégation internationale représentant toutes les campagnes de la Flottille de la liberté II « Restez humains ».
La communication avec le bateau ayant été coupée à 9h15 ce matin, mardi 19 juillet 2011, alors qu’il était encerclé de quatre bateaux de la marine israélienne. Monique Cerisier ben Guiga exprime son inquiétude au vu des menaces proférées par Israël contre la Flottille et tient à assurer les 16 passagers de toute sa sympathie.
Monique Cerisier ben Guiga condamne le blocus de Gaza toujours en vigueur malgré les affirmations des autorités israéliennes. Ce blocus assure non seulement le maintien du pouvoir du Hamas à Gaza mais il soumet aussi la majeure partie de la population à des privations matérielles intolérables.
Seule la fin de ce blocus permettra à la population de Gaza de recouvrer à la fois sa liberté d’aller et venir, sa liberté de créer des richesses et sa liberté de choisir son mode de gouvernement.

Ce mardi matin, l’armée israélienne a arraisonné « Le Dignité-Al-Karama » et conduit ses passagers à bord de ses bateaux pour les emmener à Ashdod pour « subir des interrogatoires ». Au nom de quel droit ?
Ce bateau est le dernier bateau « rescapé » de la flottille de la Liberté II, son « petit Poucet citoyen ». A son bord, 16 militants pacifistes de 6 nationalités qui portent la parole de milliers de citoyens qui ont soutenu la flottille « Liberté II » pour exiger la levée du blocus de Gaza et en appeler à l’opinion publique pour faire pression sur les gouvernements occidentaux afin qu’ils exigent d’Israël le respect du droit international pour la Palestine.
Au lieu de cela et de tout faire pour protéger la flottille et ses passagers, les gouvernements occidentaux ont multiplié les pressions pour empêcher les bateaux de partir, ne réagissant même pas au sabotage d’au moins deux de ces bateaux. C’est donc encore une fois le soutien inconditionnel à Israël qui a prévalu et les intérêts stratégico-politio-diplomatiques à courte vue au mépris des règles internationales.
Pire encore aujourd’hui, les autorités israéliennes osent se prévaloir de ce droit international pour arraisonner le bateau et dire qu’il y a des solutions « conformes au droit international » pour acheminer l’aide alimentaire. De qui se moque-t-on ? La seule solution conforme au droit international est la levée du blocus de Gaza.
Jusqu’à quand Israël sera-t-il considéré comme un pays à part qui peut bafouer le droit en toute impunité y compris dans les eaux internationales ?
A plusieurs reprises, les élus du Front de gauche ont interpellé les autorités tant françaises qu’européennes[1] pour leur demander de protéger la flottille et ses passagers pacifistes.
Les passagers du « Dignité-Al-Karama » ont été conduits à bord des bateaux militaires et sont amenés en Israël pour interrogatoire. Parmi eux, plusieurs Français dont le député communiste Jean Claude Lefort et la porte-parole française de la Flottille de la liberté II, Claude Léostic.
L’Union européenne et les gouvernements de ses Etats membres doivent ramener Israël à la raison et au respect du droit international. Ils doivent tout mettre en œuvre pour protéger leurs ressortissants et la population palestinienne.

ISRAELIS CANNOT MAKE THE GAZA REALITY DISAPPEAR
I admit I overestimated the strength of Greece’s democracy. Or let me put it this way: I didn’t see how thin the varnish of what we call Israeli democracy really is.

I will try to summarize this year's Gaza flotilla. Everyone knows that the goal this time was to return with more unarmed ships and a more representative selection of people and organizations. Last but not least, we would return with more MPs. We succeeded in organizing this.
But suddenly this peaceful protest against the illegal Israeli blockade turned into a Greek tragedy, as if a modern-day Euripides had conceived it. Obviously we had predicted that the Israeli army might use a tactic that prevented the flotilla from leaving foreign ports. We assumed that Israel, as always, would claim that it could do whatever it wanted. And it can, as long as it is protected and financed by the United States.
But the U.S. is not the power it used to be; one day that protection will cease - shall we say in five years? In this context it might be wise to mention that, as I write this, NASA's huge funding will be reduced to a minimum. And the reason for the dismantling of this prestigious project is the deteriorating U.S. economy. What other reason is there?
But we weren't prepared that Greece would so easily sell its national soul to Israel, disguised as threats and harassment. I criticize myself for not foreseeing this. Greece's economic crisis weakens the nation. But it came as a surprise that Greece, when faced with Israel's threats (supported by the United States ), would roll over so completely. Moreover, I fully admit that I overestimated the strength of Greece's democracy. Or let me put it this way: I didn't see how thin the varnish of what we call Israeli democracy really is. Israel's actions remind me more of a military dictatorship's methods.
I'll come back to why Greece has been brought to its knees, and why a relatively small solidarity movement like our flotilla manages to create turmoil in international politics and frightens Israel into challenging its neighbors and the EU.
First, this needs to be said: Because Greece prevented our ships from leaving its ports and our ships were sabotaged by unidentified hostile divers, no flotilla will sail for Gaza right now. But some ships might act on their own. Since this would break our common cause, I deeply disagree with it. Most likely, however, the Greek coast guard will stop the ships, because the Israelis don't want bad publicity like last year, when Israeli commandos fired at will from helicopters. Hence, it's better to make Greece responsible. Israel and those opposing our cause will regard this as a failure for our side, and Prime Minister George Papandreou will get a pat on the back from his Israeli friends (but the protests in Greece will increase).
But this is not a failure. We will return with broader support and a bigger flotilla, and I promise that the Israeli regime won't have a quiet moment until this illegal blockade is broken. Our action has had more impact this year - unlike last year when the media didn't pay attention until the commandos started killing people.
Even though our ships didn't move an inch, this is yet another failure for Israel. The regime's desperate fear increases the opposition against human rights violations in Gaza. According to basic international law, it's illegal to collectively punish people as is done in Gaza.
In the same way I always claim that Gilad Shalit should have been released long ago and that Hamas' rocket attacks against Israel must stop, I claim that we must look at this situation from this perspective: What comes first, oppression or rebellion? Not even Israel's intellectuals can wave their magic wand and make reality disappear - the reality that the Palestinians are treated as second-class citizens in their own country. The Gaza blockade is not mainly about concrete, diapers or medicine. It's about the human dignity that Israel deprives its own citizens of. Thus, it provokes desperate actions.
But for me the biggest mystery is that the Israeli regime doesn't realize that it's digging holes for itself, and that the situation in the end will be unbearable. Why are they blindfolding themselves?
Why is Israel moving the blockade - or ironically one could call it "outsourcing" the blockade - to Europe this year? What's the difference from last year? Naturally, it's about the uprisings in the Middle East and North Africa. The Israelis find this development most worrying. But they also understand that they can profit from the concerns in governing circles in Europe and the United States. Last year, significantly more international institutions openly supported our flotilla. But now when the MENA region is unstable, it's very convenient to forget about the Palestinians again and ensure that Israel can maintain some sort of order in the region.
Who cares about some ill-treated Palestinians when the stability of the oil-producing countries is an issue?
Once MENA's situation becomes clearer, the support for our cause will increase. And my guess is that it will be bigger than ever.
That's how cynical our world is. But I don't think Israel should make too much of a triumph of this. In Europe - and in Greece not least - the indignation over Israel's brutal meddling in Greece's internal affairs is growing.
Through its actions the blindfolded Israeli regime is becoming a global outcast. Why don't they consider what's best for them? With what arguments do they defend the Gaza blockade if the next election ends in Hamas' defeat? How do they justify the building of new and bigger illegal settlements and the violations they constitute?
Therefore, it should be regarded as something positive when Yedioth Ahronoth's Roni Shaked says "it would be better to get rid of the blockade than to chase protesters." That is, if my sources are right about that quote.
Undoubtedly, it would have been a good first step on the road that needs to be taken; that Israelis and Palestinians together, on equal terms, create a common future.
How it should look is not for me to say. Nor did I ever intend to.

That's how cynical our world is. But I don't think Israel should make too much of a triumph of this. In Europe - and in Greece not least - the indignation over Israel's brutal meddling in Greece's internal affairs is growing.
Through its actions the blindfolded Israeli regime is becoming a global outcast. Why don't they consider what's best for them? With what arguments do they defend the Gaza blockade if the next election ends in Hamas' defeat? How do they justify the building of new and bigger illegal settlements and the violations they constitute?
Therefore, it should be regarded as something positive when Yedioth Ahronoth's Roni Shaked says "it would be better to get rid of the blockade than to chase protesters." That is, if my sources are right about that quote.
Undoubtedly, it would have been a good first step on the road that needs to be taken; that Israelis and Palestinians together, on equal terms, create a common future.
How it should look is not for me to say. Nor did I ever intend to.

Israeli Navy Takes Dignite/Al Karama in International Waters

Earlier today, the Israeli navy took control of the one boat from Freedom Flotilla II that had made it into international waters on their way to Gaza. The French-flagged boat - Dignite/Al Karama - carried 16 people from France, Canada, Greece, Sweden and Tunisia. They were stopped about 40 miles away from Gaza and after several hours the Israelis took control of the boat, bringing it to the Israeli port of Ashdod.
There are no reports of any injuries and we have heard the passengers were being arrested. We do not yet know how long they will be detained or what will happen to the boat.
We urge you to contact the Israeli Embassy in Washington, DC to call for the immediate release of these people. And - most importantly - we must call on the Israeli government to end the siege and blockade of Gaza, and to treat the people of Palestine in compliance with international law!

Dignite Represents The Audacity of Hope
and the rest of Freedom Flotilla II
July 19, 2011: At 3:30 am (EDT) today, several Israeli naval ships stopped the French-flagged ship Dignite/Al Karama while on the last leg of its voyage to Gaza. The small boat with 16 people was approximately 40 miles away from Gaza, very much in international waters. By 6 am the Israeli military had taken control of the boat and was bringing it to the Israel port of Ashdod, where the people on the boat would be arrested. At this time there have been no reports of any injuries. All communication with the passengers on the Dignite has been cut off.
The Dignite is one member of the larger Freedom Flotilla II that had planned to sail together to Gaza in late June. All the other ships, including the U.S. flagged boat The Audacity of Hope, were delayed by the Greek government's refusal to permit them to sail -- an egregious act of complicity with Israel's policy toward Gaza that the International Committee of the Red Cross has determined to be "collective punishment." Two of the flotilla's boats suffered serious physical damage from acts of sabotage while others were caught in a web of Greek bureaucratic entanglements, including phony civilian complaints challenging the sea-worthiness of some of the boats.
The Dignite began its voyage from a French port. The French government refused to interfere with this nonviolent civilian human rights initiative, permitting the ship to sail into international Mediterranean waters without problems. The Dignite and its passengers - from France, Canada, Greece, Sweden, and Tunisa - proudly sailed toward Gaza as representatives of the larger flotilla. They represented the steadfastness and determination of the flotilla movement to sail until the blockade is broken. The Israeli government's belief that Freedom Flotilla II can be stopped misunderstands the nature of this non-violent movement and its, purpose, which is to end the siege of Gaza.
Despite most of the Freedom Flotilla II being unable to leave Greek ports, the flotilla was able to highlight the vicious nature of Israel's policy towards Gaza. Israeli leaders showed their willingness to use intimidation, lies, economic blackmail, threats of violence, and sabotage to stop boats that Israeli military officials admitted would not be carrying weapons. This clearly demonstrates that Israel's blockade of Gaza is not based on "security", but is meant to punish the 1.7 million people living in Gaza, deny their freedom and cut them off from the rest of the world.
The Israeli government's continued violation of international law and the human rights of Palestinians is possible only as a result of the international community's failure to take tangible measures to uphold United Nations resolutions and Palestinian human rights. As the American passengers on The Audacity of Hope directly experienced in Greece, some major powers - including the U.S. government and the European Union - are willing to ignore international law and human rights to appease the Israeli government. International civil society has no recourse other than to take nonviolent direct action.
The Dignite carried a message of solidarity and human empathy from the people of the world to the people of Gaza, and all of Palestine, that Israel's violence can never silence. The journey of this small boat is further evidence that the will of global civil society cannot be intimidated. As long as the illegal blockade of Gaza remains in place, ships will sail to confront it; as long as Israel continues its occupation, and violent repression of Palestinians and our governments are silent about it, the global solidarity movement will mobilize to nonviolently and directly challenge it.
We call on the Israeli government to end the siege and blockade of Gaza and to treat the people of Palestine in compliance with international law.

Depuis près de 12h le Dignité Al-Karama vogue en eaux internationales, faisant cap sur Gaza. Il devrait atteindre les côtes palestiniennes dans les 24h.
Parti depuis le 25 juin de France, le Dignité-Al Karama, un des deux bateaux de la campagne « Un bateau français pour Gaza », se dirige actuellement vers Gaza. Il est aujourd'hui le porte parole de l'ensemble de la Flottille de la liberté II, dont tous les bateaux ont été empêchés de prendre la mer par décision du gouvernement grec, satisfaisant ainsi une demande israélienne explicite. Deux bateaux ont été sabotés. Les passagers du Dignité-Al Karama avaient échappé le 5 juillet dernier au blocus grec. A son bord aujourd'hui se trouve une seconde équipe représentant des campagnes nationales de la coalition Freedom Flottilla II.
Ce « petit » bateau symbolise la détermination du mouvement de solidarité internationale à briser le blocus de Gaza et à apporter son soutien aux 1.6 millions de palestiniens enfermés depuis 2007. La première flottille avait obligé le gouvernement israélien à annoncer un allégement du blocus. Mais sur le terrain, les ONG et institutions internationales ne constatent que peu de changement (1)."L'ouverture du passage de Rafah" avec l’Egypte n'est possible que pour 500 personnes par jour, et n’est pas aménagé pour le transfert de produits.
La présence en mer du Dignité-Al Karama constitue un revers pour le gouvernement israélien qui par la force ou les pressions cherche à perpétuer un blocus illégal et criminel et à faire taire les mouvements des sociétés civiles du monde entier. Tant que les Palestiniens ne jouiront pas de leur liberté de circuler et d'échanger, notamment entre Gaza et la Cisjordanie, nous poursuivrons nos campagnes et les actions non violentes pour la levée du blocus de Gaza.

Samedi 16 juillet, le bateau français Dignité al-Karama a fini par l'emporter sur les milles obstacles et tracasseries dont il a été l'objet de la part des autorités grecques. Il a quitté le port de Kastellorizo, en Grèce, et a enfin atteint les eaux internationales. À son bord, en plus des militants français, une délégation qui représente toutes les campagnes internationales menées dans le cadre la Flottille de la liberté II «Restez humains».
Parti à l’origine d'un port en Corse fin juin, et battant pavillon français, le Dignité Al Karama est le seul bateau qui a pu se défaire de l'interdiction de naviguer décrétée par les autorités grecques à la demande du gouvernement israélien. La campagne "Un bateau français pour Gaza" a alors décidé d'en faire le porte-parole de l'ensemble de la flottille, pour dénoncer le siège de Gaza, exiger sa levée, et porter aux Palestiniens un message de solidarité.

Τις τελευταίες 12 ώρες το Dignite-Al Karama πλέει σε διεθνή ύδατα με προορισμό τη Γάζα. Θα προσεγγίσει τις Παλαιστινιακές ακτές τις επόμενες 24 ώρες.
Το Dignite-Al Karama, το οποίο αναχώρησε από τη Γαλλία στις 25 Ιουνίου, είναι το ένα από τα δύο πλοία της καμπάνιας "Ένα Γαλλικό Καράβι για τη Γάζα" και αυτή τη στιγμή πλέει προς τη Γάζα. Αποτελεί δε τον εκπρόσωπο του Στόλου της Ελευθερίας ΙΙ, του οποίου τα υπόλοιπα πλοία δεν μπόρεσαν να αποπλεύσουν για τη Γάζα εξαιτίας των αποφάσεων της Ελληνικής κυβέρνησης, που με τη σειρά της ικανοποίησε τα ρητά αιτήματα του Ισραήλ. Δύο καράβια υπέστησαν δολιοφθορές. Οι επιβάτες του Dignite-Al Karama κατόρθωσαν να ξεφύγουν του Ελληνικού ναυτικού αποκλεισμού στις 5 Ιουλίου. Στο πλοίο επιβαίνουν μέλη από τις διάφορες εθνικές πρωτοβουλίες, εκπροσωπώντας τη συμμαχία του Στόλου της Ελευθερίας ΙΙ.
Αυτό "μικρό" πλοίο, αντιποσωπεύει την αποφασιστικότητα του διεθνούς κινήματος αλληλεγγύης να σπάσει τον αποκλεισμό της Γάζας και να στηρίξει τα 1,6εκ Παλαιστίνιους που ζουν φυλακισμένοι από το 2007. Ο πρώτος Στόλος της Ελευθερίας είχε αναγκάσει την Ισραηλινή κυβέρνηση να ανακοινώσει χαλάρωση του αποκλεισμού. Ωστόσο στην πραγματικότητα, Μη Κυβερνητικές Οργανώσεις και Διεθνείς Οργανισμοί επισημαίνουν πως τίποτα δεν έχει αλλάξει. Το "άνοιγμα του περάσματος στη Ράφα" με την Αίγυπτο ουσιαστικά εξυπηρετεί μόλις 500 άτομα την ημέρα και όχι τη μετακίνηση αγαθών.

Όσο οι Παλαιστίνιοι δεν θα έχουν τη δυνατότητα ελευθερης μετακίνησης και ανταλλαγής προϊόντων, ιδιαίτερα μεταξύ Γάζας και Δυτικής Όχθης, θα συνεχίσουμε τις προσπάθειες μας και τις μη βίαιες ενέργειες μας με σκοπό την άρση του αποκλεισμού της Γάζας.
