A prominent new highway billboard – up in Sacramento but part of a national campaign –says it “just doesn’t make sense” for US taxpayers to be paying $8 million dollars a day to Israel.

The billboard is located in West Sacramento on Highway Bus 80 near the merger with Interstate 80. Drivers heading west from downtown Sacramento to nearby Davis or the SF Bay Area drive by the billboard before the merger with I-80.

Viewers of the billboard are directed to the website www.stoptheblankcheck.org  which includes facts on US aid to Israel and other information not generally known. The website includes suggestions for action by citizens who question or oppose this amount of aid going to a small, wealthy country.

The ongoing aid to Israel is contrasted with the little aid given to poor countries. Why are we giving this aid to a foreign country while social services in the US are being cut?

Most of the aid to Israel is in military hardware and amounts to over $3 Billion each year. The website explains how this aid undermines the prospects of peace.
